Happy Birthday Ernest

Today 108 years ago, a cute baby boy was born, to grow up not only to be a brave man, but also a great writer, now considered a canonical figure in American literature. And rightly so.
Ernest Miller Hemingway, was on of the greatest writers of the 20th century, if not THE GREATEST. He received Pulitzer Prize and Nobel Prize in literature. He lead an extraordinary life, travelled many different countries, had four wives (not at the same time though) and wrote some great works of literature.
This man in my eyes is a hero. Not only because he went to WWI with red cross as an ambulance corps., but because he was a talented writer and a true honest journalist. This man travelled across Spain during the civil war looking for news, while others were sitting in safe hotels waiting for the same news to arrive.
He wrote the best fictional report on Spanish Civil War and he was admired in his lifetime. He understood bullfighting, and was the first to translate the bullfighting terms into English in the most appropriate way. This man, didn't sit back and wait for life to come to him, he went out and sought for it and he lived it to the fullest.

Happy Birthday Ernest!

How wonderful of you to remember Hemingway on his birthday! Yes, his literature is amazing and he is one of my favorite authors. He definitely did live his life fully and he is testament to the fact that in our own fears and failings throughout life, there is great beauty. He wrote from experience and passion...something we all have in abundance. It is how we utilize those two that make a difference.
