A family day out

Our family consists of me, my husband and our four legged furry son. On Sunday we decided to have family time together and to teach our boy to swim. So we took him to one of the rivers that come out of the mountains. The day was hot approximately 24 degrees Celsius, so the freezing cold water didn’t scare us at all. Charlie (the four legged son) was on a long rope (for safety purposes only) and so once we took him by the water he was fascinated by the plenty-ness of drinking water! He started of sticking his front paws into the water then the back paws, and then he became so brave he dared to walk around without being too careful! You can see what happened next:

He was pretty shocked when he came up eventually discovering he can swim. You can see my facial expression as well!

Then we decided to take Charlie to more doggy-friendly river where it is not so deep. On the way there we discovered a beautiful picture worthy house. It truly fascinated me I just can’t resist to the stone houses.

When we went down by the river Charlie wasn’t so brave anymore, the previous events scared him of being brave in the water for a long time. Wile I was busy choosing stones to carry in my pocket (or more likely to put on my desk) Charlie barely stuck his paws into water.
Though he didn’t enjoy drinking the fresh and cool mountain water; from the beautiful stream (coming down from someone’s garden).

At the end when my lazy and tired husband put the camera away Charlie joined me picking the stones and even helped me to carry them back to “daddy”. After days like this I realize how much I love my little family and how much I love France. It’s the little things that make life beautiful! Non?

P.S. And yes I am aware that this post was pretty pointless, but then that wasn’t the point!

Yes great photos!!! What type of camera is that??

I think pointless is great, I enjoyed this post so much, it's just the way you write it!

I'm glad your husband is feeling better, when will you go to UK? I hope the dog makes him exersize really hard, to get his heart in good condition, I think you mentioned cardiologist, so I assume heart!

Maybe you could make some photos of your garden, I would love to see that:)
I've mostly read through all the posts:) I love the charlie stories and I love how honest you are about things! You really are a great writer. I love the banking experience, that was amusing:)
take care! kim

candyterry, thank you, yeah the dog is cute I love him to bits!

Kim, my camera is Fujifilm Finepix F700 it's quite old now but the pictures allways come out good!
Thank you for the compliments, I guess I should write more as you seem to enjoy it!
Yes my husband has problems with his heart. I will be writing a separate article on it soon (and about medical treatment in France as well!).
Unfortunately we do not know when we will go to the UK as my husband is just not fit enough to travel but his heart got to get sorted out soon. So maybe next month.

Do you want to see the garden or the surroundings (I will take the pictures just for you!)? Please let me know.

This wasn't pointless at all! A lovely post. It is the little things that really matter, like spending a warm sunny Sunday by the river with your husband and teaching your dog to swim. My dog even after ten years refuses to get more than her paws wet when we take her to a river or beach. She will belly-flop around but won't take a plunge. Oh well, not all dogs are the swimming type

Well I guess my Charlie is of the same kind as your dog. He walked in the water but he never attempted to swim after the "accident" :)
