Sunday flowers

I absolutely love carnations. Especially the white ones. You can almost always find them in the shop regardless of the season of the year. Also they always stand up well in the vase and can pull off the hectic look. As a child I used to describe carnations (as I would never remember their name) by saying that it is the one that petals look like pencil shavings after sharpening!

You're right, the petals do look like pencil shavings. I never noticed that. You should file it away and maybe you will find a place for that description in a story one day.

That is a really good idea Richard I think I will put it in my book for future use...

You know what they say about writing: you have to kill your little darlings.

But it is a good simile and I strongly encourage you to file it away for possible future use (I promise not to use it myself ;-)

If you really want to you are more than welcome to use it, but I will store it for future use myself... :)
