My husband's health is deteriorating fast. We have to scrape some money before it's too late... Yes it's that bad. The dead muscle lump is expanding in his chest and causing more and more discomfort daily. I am starting to panic, thinking of just putting him on the plane and letting him go to the UK on his own, dial 999 and get the surgery immediately. We simply can't afford the medical treatment in France. And this could cost my husband life.
Don't you think that all that medical insurance crap is disgusting?I do. Can you blame me? Probably that's why I'm like this... My husband head a heart attack, year later a heart surgery, doctors messed up he needed another surgery week later. Now he needs a third surgery... Do you know the risks of having ANY kind of surgery? That's why I could never understand how men and women literally risk their lives for beauty, when someone like my husband has no choice but to take that risk to live. This is killing him and it is killing me. I wish the fortune could come back to our household, we need it very much.
I might sound depressed but I am not. I am simply worried to death (literally again!) about my husband. I will search for solutions and if you have any ideas, please let me know...

This may be a really silly question, but why is he not covered in france?
I wish I had some solution, some magic solution, don't give up, search the internet, email hospitals all over and give your story, someone has to listen. You are good with words!!
Where would he be covered? UK? call the hospital there and ask if they know anyone in france to give them a favor? I know, that just sounds too simple, so it must not work...I wish him and you luck and fortune!
Take care, carra and mr. carra:)

Is your husband a British citizen? As kim asks, is he registered with the French authorities (CPAM)? If not, why not?
If he is registered in France, then all his medical needs would be covered if he has a life-threatening illness.
If not, then I think you're right, he'd be better off going back to the UK.
[French medical insurance is a top-up to cover the costs not covered by the CPAM system, by the way.]
I do feel for you, I'm sorry there's no practical help, except making sure you have good information.
Kim, my husband is sort of covered in France. Because he is retired and lives in France he has EHIC which is European Health Insurance card. It entitles him for redused cost or free medical treatment abroad. In France he can receive only reduced price medical treatment and he'd get a refund only within two months for normal medical treatment. If my husband is hospital in patient 75% of expenses are covered and the rest 25% have to be covered when leaving the hospital. My husband needs a surgery. And that even with 75% covered would cost too much. He has a dead muscle in his chest which is caused by previous surgeries. First it was affecting only his digesting system, but the lump is expanding fast and is having problems breathing now. It is becoming dangerous. If he doesn't have it done - soon he'll be walking the edge. We are considering going to Lithuania and having the surgery done privatly which would cost near to nothing. Comparing to the expenses we would have in the UK. Anyway to go to Lithuania we still need funds. I am hoping this will be sorted soon, but I am starting to panic. BTW I phoned, e-mailed and contacted hospitals in every way posible it is not easy. No one does favours when it comes to medical treatment. You have to follow the rules which aren't always 'life-friendly'.
Jaifree, yes my husband is a British citizen I'll check out that CPAM now I am not sure because I haven't heard of this before but everything is worth trying now.
Thank you for the support and understanding it means a lot to me.
Caisse primaire d'Assurance Maladie = CPAM. Find the one for your department and go and talk to them. If your husband is fully paid up for UK benefits, he may be able to register in France instead.
But as you know, French bureaucracy takes a lot of time.
Good Luck!

Thank you Jaiffree I will find out where they are today. So I can go and see them this week. Once again thank you so much.
Thinking of you, Carra...and of course your husband too. I'm sorry I don't have advice -I do hope that Jaiffree's suggestions are helpful.
